At Light of Christ we consider worship to be one of the greatest privileges we have as children of God. Throughout eternity we will be singing God's praises so our worship on earth is practice for what we will be doing in heaven. As such it is also serious business and we need to always be giving Him our best.

In Mark 12:30, it says that we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. First we want to focus our minds on who God is and what He has done for us. There are so many things that distract us from this and when we enter into worship we need to be thinking about who He is. This is why the lyrics of the songs we sing are so important. We want to be singing words that communicate to us about who God is and allow us to communicate back to Him our worship and praise.

But it's not enough to just know things about God. God wants us to express our love to him in worship. When we really get a true picture of who He is it will affect our emotions as well. This is why music is so important. It is a very tangible way of expressing our love and praise to God. God has blessed us with many talented musicians who desire to use their God given gifts in praise to the Father.

And yet worship is much more than emotions. The world is not impressed with Christians who simply come to church to get their emotional "high" for the week and then leave church with unchanged lives. We are to love God with all that we are and that means that when God speaks to us in a meaningful way that we are always to be in the business of asking Him how He wants this to affect the way we live. When God touches our minds with truth about Himself and we listen closely enough that this touches our emotions as well, we then leave determined to follow Him in obedience. This is one way we know we have worshipped Him in spirit and in truth.

We are always looking to expand the music ministry at Light of Christ and to welcome in new people who believe that God is calling them to be a part of what we are doing. If you believe that God is calling you to serve with our worship team please prayerfully fill out this questionnaire -> Worship Ministry Application and email it to our worship leader - Craig Coffman.
